Dropping of the Bomb
Studying about the crisis in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was shocking. Before I didn't study about the consequences of the bombing, I didn't really know what kind of chemicals were left on the land and how it could change the bombed site and impact the people who are living there. Then I figured out that the bombs had murdered and affected even more people than what I had thought. 210,000 people had died only in Hiroshima, some died immediately, some by short or long-term effects. It was upsetting when I found out during the research that lots of Koreans who were in Japan were also killed by the bomb. Lots of innocent people had died by the bombing. Due to the fact that the nuclear bomb is such a massive weapon which will surely kill civilians, nuclear bomb should not be permitted for use at all times. By the way, if the Japanese government surrendered before bombing Hiroshima, people in Nagasaki didn't have to face the following bomb. I am sure the Japanese government wasn't that stupid that they would think America owns no more bombs, so the fact that the government did not surrender after the first bombing is still questioning me.
What can we do to protect ourselves from the bomb?
Keeping peace without having wars is not easy, but we can't live forever fighting with each other. Many countries and associations had been working together to make peace in the world. These associations such as the United Nations, to help resolve the conflicts among two or more countries . They make the representatives from the countries or groups to meet each other, debate and negotiate(if necessary) instead of solving it with force.
After the nuclear bomb had been introduced, we risk our lives everyday as we continue our lives. To make ourselves safe from the nuclear bomb, there are two simple solutions. Every countries or organizations should or should not own nuclear bomb. They would all deterrence each other, and eventually stop other from using the bomb, it will make them think again before they shoot, because they will be bombed as well if they use it. However, this solution is very risky, because some country with an insane dictator can start the nuclear war, which will ruin the earth, and exterminate the humankind. So we have to work out together to waste the bombs, the countries have to negotiate with each other to waste the bombs they have. The governments are not in this kind of process, so we need to make them do it. We, people have to stand against the nuclear bomb until the governments recognize us and listen to what we say.
Peace is not the product of terror or fear.
Peace is not the silence of cemeteries.
Peace is not the silent result of violent repression.
Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good of all.
Peace is dynamism. Peace is generosity.
It is right and it is duty.

Visiting 3rd graders
Our international relations class went to the 3rd graders last week. We thought together about what peace means, how it looks. We presented in front of them about the two bombings on Japan, and they presented theirs to us. I think it was a great idea to work with the 3rd graders, it made us to listen to each other's states or ideas. Listening to the 3rd graders gave us new ideas that students in our ages couldn't think of, and made us and 3rd graders to understand each other's views and thinkings. (((Book cover of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes)))
They also introduced the book called Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, the story was about a Japanese girl who was affected by the radiation and gets leukemia which will kill her one day. She hears a legend about if someone folds thousands of paper cranes, the god grants his/her wish, she never gives up her hope and continues folding the paper cranes so the god can save her from the deadly disease, but she dies at the end unfortunately. This book showed us how the atomic bomb took away (not only Sadako's) the innocent children's souls.
After reading Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, we had a time folding the Paper Cranes as well. I succeeded to fold three of them, and I was happy to see the 3rd grade kids fighting each other to steal my paper cranes (Just joking). After having three classes together, they looked very upset when our class was forced to leave. It would have been better if we had time to show them the pages we made in this site, and I think it will be great to share our ideas with each other continually.
For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
People are born with the same fate to coexist in earth, to live comfortably together, we need to understand each other, and solve the problems occurring by cultural differences.

It's getting better nowadays, many kinds of associations are trying to make peace around the earth.
